Still Bearing Fruit

Davis has been on the move since the new year began providing experiences for all ages. Our church motto is “…Everyone is welcome and empowered to serve.” Our focus is in-reach and out-reach, as well as, spiritual and natural development. We want to help ourselves and others reach their fullest potential on this side of heaven and enjoying the process along the way. The caption photo is a group picture of those who participated in a luncheon hosted by the Still Bearing Fruit ministry. Their foundational scripture is Psalm 92:12-14 NLT. The target group for this ministry are persons ages 60 and older. The goals of this ministry are to provide activities of interest, encourage and help each other practice self-care and model healthy living.
Davis started the year with a financial workshop entitled Money Management Basics for Abundant Living. We looked at managing our money from a biblical perspective. Participants used practical applications to help them begin the new year on a more solid foundation. Everyone received take-aways to help them get on track, stay on track and be the good stewards that we are called to be. Thus, enabling us to positively impact the lives of others.
The men of Davis have partnered with Brother’s Keeper and provide quarterly donations, as well as, reading materials. Brother’s Keeper also participates in the annual prayer breakfast. This ministry is still in the development stages. The men of Davis welcome ideas and participation from other men who are interested in community engagement and uplift.
The annual Heritage Tournament and Dinner is a fun way for youth to learn about the accomplishments of African Americans past and present. The questions cover history, politics, religion, entertainment, the sciences, and sports. Young people from area churches prepare and compete. The winners receive a monetary award and their names engraved on the winner’s plaque. It’s a good time had by all.
The doors of the church are open as much as possible. Not only for members, but to our extended family in the body of Christ. We had the opportunity to host the Area Women’s Missionary Society meeting. Our choir had an afternoon prayer and praise service that included churches across denominational and non-denomination lines. We’re all a part of the same body serving the same God. Everyone left inspired to go out the church doors to serve the world.
